Terms of service
foyl Learn (learn.foyl.io, operated by foyl - "we") is a free cybersecurity learning platform: simulated security tools, labs, drills, scenarios, and study material. By creating an account or using the platform you agree to these terms and to the privacy policy. If you do not agree, do not use the platform.
Who can use foyl Learn
- You must be at least 16 years old. The platform is designed for college-level students, career changers, and working professionals; it is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly hold accounts for anyone under 16. If we learn an account belongs to someone under 16 we will delete it.
- If you are using the platform through a class or institution, you are still individually bound by these terms.
- One account per person; keep your sign-in email and GitHub account secure. You are responsible for activity on your account.
What the platform is - and is not
- Everything on foyl Learn is a simulation. The security tools are mock interfaces; the company ("foyl SecIntel"), its employees, incidents, indicators, and infrastructure are entirely fictional. Any resemblance to real people or organizations is coincidental.
- The platform teaches defensive security concepts for education. Nothing here is professional security advice, and completing content does not certify you to perform security work.
- Certificates issued by the platform record your completion of foyl Learn content. They are not accredited credentials and are not affiliated with any certification body. Practice questions for third-party certifications are study aids, not official materials.
- The ATT&CK® matrix content is based on the MITRE ATT&CK framework; foyl is not affiliated with or endorsed by The MITRE Corporation.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use anything you learn here to access, disrupt, or attack systems you do not own or lack explicit authorization to test.
- Probe, overload, or attempt to bypass the platform's security or rate limits, scrape accounts or class data, or automate bulk requests against the APIs.
- Guess or share class invite codes to join classes you were not invited to, or impersonate an instructor or another person.
- Use the platform to send unsolicited email (including abusing sign-in links) or for any unlawful purpose.
Good-faith security research about the platform itself is welcome: report findings to support@foyl.io rather than exploiting them.
Classes and instructors
- Joining a class with an invite code shares your name/email, progress, checkpoints, and certificates with that class's instructor, as described in the privacy policy. You can leave a class at any time.
- Instructors may only add students to classes for legitimate teaching purposes, must keep roster data confidential, and may not export or reuse student data outside the platform. Instructors teaching learners under 16 may not direct them to create accounts.
Your content and our content
The platform's content, design, and code are owned by foyl or its licensors. You may use the platform and print or share your own certificates for personal, educational, and classroom purposes. You may not resell platform content or present it as your own.
No warranty
The platform is provided "as is" and "as available", free of charge, without warranties of any kind, express or implied - including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy of content, or uninterrupted availability. Content may contain errors; simulated data deliberately differs from real-world tools.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, foyl will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or exemplary damages - including lost data, lost opportunities, or academic or professional consequences - arising from your use of, or inability to use, the platform. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid us to use the platform, which is zero. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
Suspension and termination
We may suspend or delete accounts that violate these terms, abuse the platform, or create risk for other users, with or without notice. You can delete your own account at any time from the privacy & data page; deletion is permanent.
Changes
We may update these terms as the platform evolves. Material changes will be flagged on the sign-in page; continuing to use the platform after a change means you accept the updated terms.
